YMCA South Midlands and Makewell are hosting a webinar this Mental Health Awareness Month to explore the link between mental health and youth voice, highlighting the importance of creating safe spaces for young people to be heard.
The session will feature Jennifer Birch, Head of Resident Support at YMCA South Midlands, and Jane Lambert, CEO of Makewell, who will share professional insight and lived experience on how mental health shapes young people’s confidence and self-expression.
The discussion will also spotlight our Mental Wealth Project, launched in 2023 with Makewell and funded by The National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund. The programme has already supported 505 young people, with 81% moving on positively from YMCA accommodation and reported wellbeing increasing by 81.4%.
Jennifer Birch said creating supportive environments can “genuinely change lives,” while Jane Lambert added that “behind every statistic is a young person who has been listened to and supported.”
The webinar is open to all and offers a chance to learn more about youth wellbeing, early support, and the power of young voices.
