Whitehouse Youth Club is celebrating a successful first year after becoming a valued part of the local community. Since opening in September 2025, the club has grown steadily, welcoming young people each week and providing a consistent space where they can connect with others, discover their strengths and develop the confidence and skills to navigate life’s challenges.
The club was established following funding from BI Worldwide’s Strive for the Hive fundraising campaign and launched with a community celebration at The Hive in July 2025. From the outset, the focus has been on creating an environment where every young person feels welcomed, valued and able to contribute.
Across the year, young people have shaped the club through a wide range of activities, including weekly cooking sessions, sports, creative projects and cultural celebrations. Preparing meals together has become a particular highlight, offering opportunities to build practical skills, strengthen relationships and grow confidence through shared experiences. Every session has been designed to nurture existing strengths, encourage curiosity and create opportunities for young people to support one another.
One of the club’s greatest successes has been the relationships that have flourished. Young people from different schools have formed meaningful connections and now proudly refer to themselves as the “Whitehouse Family”—a reflection of the sense of belonging they have created together. Alongside activities, experienced youth workers provide trusted, consistent support, creating opportunities for young people to explore challenges, build resilience and develop the confidence to make positive choices in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
The club’s impact comes at a time when youth services across England continue to face significant funding pressures. Against this backdrop, Whitehouse Community Council’s commitment to funding another year of provision demonstrates the value of investing in young people’s potential and in community-based, preventative support. This continued investment will enable even more young people to access positive relationships, develop their talents and feel a genuine sense of belonging within their community.
As Whitehouse Youth Club looks ahead to its second year, its ambition remains the same: to continue creating opportunities for young people to connect, contribute and thrive, while building on the strengths, aspirations and potential that already exist within the community.
