Building Skills and Future Pathways Through Fire Safety Training

Building Skills and Future Pathways Through Fire Safety Training

Residents at our Northamptonshire Campus recently took part in a three-day Fire Safety course delivered in partnership with Northamptonshire Children’s Trust. The training reflected YMCA’s commitment to recognising young people’s ambitions and supporting them to build on their skills to provide them with safety, confidence, and future opportunities.

Through practical, hands-on learning, residents developed valuable knowledge while strengthening their sense of competence and responsibility. Being offered to take part in structured training empowered residents to discover their capabilities, stretch themselves, and experience success through achievement.

Residents shared positive feedback about the experience, highlighting how valuable it felt to be presented with such a meaningful learning opportunity. One young person was so inspired by the experience that they are now exploring fire safety as a potential career pathway, further demonstrating how nurturing skills and interests can help young people develop their sense of competence, purpose, and a more positive outlook on their future.

We pride ourselves on providing opportunities that meet young people’s needs for achievement, autonomy, and direction which in turn plays a key role in supporting emotional wellbeing and long-term resilience.
